OPENING CONCERT

Our inaugural gathering took place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the intimate setting of Weinman Hall at the Music Academy of the West. This pilot event marks the beginning of a new series in Santa Barbara, where audience feedback will help shape the season ahead.

THE PROGRAM

Antonio Artese – Piano
This opening concert was be performed by Antonio Artese, pianist, composer, and artistic director of the series. His career bridges classical tradition, jazz improvisation, and multi-sensory performance. With Music and Meditation, he brings his vision of music as a pathway to reflection and inner connection.

  • J. S. Bach / Siloti – Prelude in B minor 
    (from the Clavierbluchlein for W. F. Bach – arrangement by A. Siloti)
    A quiet stream of harmony, reimagined across centuries. Bach’s serenity flows through Siloti’s hands, a meditation in sound.

  • Edvard Grieg – Five Lyric Pieces
    Miniatures of Nordic light — tender songs without words. Each one a fleeting mood, simple and pure.

  • Alexander Scriabin – Four Preludes, Op. 11
    Short visions of the soul: restless, tender, dreamlike. Scriabin whispers in fragments that vanish as quickly as they arrive.

  • Valentin Silvestrov – Three Bagatelles op. 1
    Music like memory — fragile echoes, dissolving into silence. Silvestrov offers us the poetry of what lingers.
